Give thanks to the LORD, call on His Name; make known among the nations what He has done.   Psalm 105:1

Despite the many challenges and difficulties we face as individuals; or in our families…our churches…as a nation–or in connection with the world as a whole; as long as we have the breath of life and consciousness, we have much for which to be thankful.

If we have food, clothing and a roof over our heads, we have bountiful blessings beyond the experience of many throughout this planet.

One of the greatest gifts we can impart to our children, spouses, friends, co-workers and church family is an attitude of gratitude.

Gratitude keeps our focus on blessings, strengthens us–and neutralizes negative thoughts; complaining weakens our faith, promoting envy and emotional instability.

A thankful heart is cultivated when we make a conscious effort to highlight the blessings we do have–and not fixating on what we do not have.

As many of us celebrate Thanksgiving,  may our focus, thoughts and prayers be on the multitude of blessings our Creator has bestowed upon us.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

–Philippians 4:8
